I love the contrast when man and nature come together. The perfectly aligned city streets meeting the changing boundaries of open space. I find this to be a great influence in my work.

Since the first days of kindergarten, I was always told that I saw the world differently. Photographs from a childhood camera show close ups of the crack in a sidewalk and the tops of buildings surrounded by nothing but sky. Now in my thirties, I am am still seeing the world in simplified terms. My paintings are strongly influenced by color field paintings of the 1960's but retain an intimate quality that invites you in for a closer look.

I enjoy paying close attention to how the finished surface of my paintings appears. I try to leave evidence of my own hand and touch, but not enough to influence the viewer allowing them to create their own interpretation of the painting.

I take pleasure in each step of making a painting. From making my own panels to applying each thin layer of paint and varnish, I work hard to consider every element.
