I am always drawn to the surface of paintings. In my own work, I focus on creating the same types of lush surfaces that I am attracted to. I work with the balance of a small grid like structure against larger color fields. These elements have played key rolls in my paintings for years. In more recent years, surface elements have taken a great role in my work. Wax, steel fillings, buttons, pins and bearings have all begun to be elements of my work.
I received a Bachelors Degree in Fine Art from Tyler School of Art in 1996. Since then I have been making paintings while working in the studio furniture and fine craft worlds. In addition to art, I am an avid cyclist, cycling fan, and Mini Cooper owner. Through my involvement with the PhillyMINI club I met my wife Kaylah. For the past four years I've lived in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania and we are currently in transition to a new home in Phoenix, Arizona.
